Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics

Oh, numbers, you are so easy to screw around with.

I, for one, do not particularly welcome our new Republican overlords, especially as they start saying things like, “The American people have spoken!” Really, they have? Only 50% of all eligible voters went to the polls. Let’s assume the votes were 60% Republican, 40% Democrat. Now let’s apply the percentages to real people.

Take 100 eligible voters. 30 voted Republican. 20 voted Democrat. And 50 did not bother to vote. I guess what the American people have spoken is “We don’t give a damn.”
